Festival Wednesday

Elley-Long Music Center at St. Michael’s College (map)

1PM | Masterclass II: LCCMF Young Artists

The talented LCCMF Young Artists continue their musical exploration of solo and duo works in these revelatory classes with festival artists.

3PM | IN DEPTH with Ignat Solzhenitsyn: Recapitulation In Beethoven

Conductor and pianist Ignat Solzhenitsyn will take us on a tour of recapitulations across Beethoven’s sonata forms—in his piano works, symphonies, and chamber music—investigating both the staggering variety and the common threads that unite Beethoven’s approaches to recapitulation. Solzhenitsyn will show how the Master’s unparalleled dramatic intuition identified this crucial tipping point in sonata structure, simultaneously elevating it to an architectural apotheosis unseen before or since.

5PM | YOUNG COMPOSERS SOUNDING BOARD II: Recording Session

Written by our 2023 Young Composers and performed by our festival artists, this recording session will be guided by our Grammy-winning Audio Producer, Alan Bise, as we capture these new compositions for the first time. This interactive session gives audience members a glimpse into the creative process of bringing a new composition to life.
