Our 2024 Festival

FOLKLORE

Dear LCCMF Friends,

With great excitement, we present to you our 16th Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival, Folklore!

Folklore lies deep within each of our hearts.  Among us, we have many traditions, languages, stories, and music from distinct cultures.  We are shaped by our own heritages as well as by an appreciation of the folklore of other peoples.

During this festival week, we will explore how classical musicians celebrate their love of folk music from around the world.  Composers like Dvořák and Bartók so fully incorporated their folk styles of Bohemia and Hungary that their compositions are now part of their countries’ folklore.  Luciano Berio, in his folk songs, paid homage to his native Italy, Armenia, France, Azerbaijan, and the United States.

Please join us for a festival full of personal stories and musical tributes that will celebrate the diverse Folklore of our world.
