3:00 pm CONCERT: String Quartet Visionaries

Haydn, the “father” of the string quartet, introduced the world to this potent combination of instruments. Beethoven subsequently revolutionized the sonic and expressive possibilities of the ensemble, and 100 years later Bartók’s technical innovations opened further doors for 20th and 21st century composers. The concert opens with the Artistic Directors performing Schubert’s brilliant and delightful Rondo. VPR Classical, Vermont’s classical music station, will be broadcasting this concert live from Elley-Long.
