7:30 pm CONCERT: Ancient Voices
Hosted by David Serkin Ludwig

Before the era of common practice, early composers wrote almost exclusively music with voice and often omitted instrumental notation in their scores altogether.  Composers like Machaut, Dufay, Josquin, Gesualdo, and Monteverdi made groundbreaking new works by exploring daring harmonies and bold new vocal techniques all the while managing the limitations of their performers and pressure from the church to preserve clarity in sacred text setting. Journey through time, starting at the earliest written music of Gregorian Chant and ending with modern madrigals by LCCMF resident composer David Serkin Ludwig.

Teresa Wakim, soprano
Martin Near, alto
Jason McStoots, tenor
Sumner Thompson, tenor
Paul Guttry, bass-baritone
