ELEGY – Digital Premiere!
Elegy begins with Anglo-African composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's clarinet quintet. This work, historically under-performed despite praise it has received over decades, draws heavy influence from many romantic composers, especially Antonin Dvořák. The evening finishes with Smetana's famously emotional piano trio, written as an elegy to his eldest daughter, who tragically died at the age of four.
Filmed at Elley-Long Music Center. Video access to this concert will be available until October 31.
